Here is another image of the same housefly as shown in my previous post - this time much closer.
Be afraid, be very afraid.
Click on the image to get a larger version, and you'll be able to see the pattern in the eyes.
This image almost makes it look like the fly is some kind of robot - the front of the head at least looks like it is made of metal.

Excellent close up!!! I can almost see you reflected in the eyes. Is the fly on a different surface form the other image?
Nope, same surface, just different level of flash has meant that the white of the curtain isn't blown out.
wow! you managed to make a fly look interesting. love the creepy eyes. great bugs shots.
Gotta love that macro lens.. What flash settings did you use for this one?
Dave I have to say for me this is one of your coolest images; your creativity and eye are amazing!
Thanks for the comments. The next photos will be of something completely different - a baby!!! But now I need some sleep.
It sounds like congratulations are in order!
I’m looking forward to the macro photos!

Great shot but this one kinda creeps me out! Sorry. I'm looking forward to your baby pics!
Andrei - about the flash settings ... I'm still not brilliant at using the SB-600 - I just kind of held it off the body and to the side and allowed the on-board flash to fire as well and left the rest up to the camera - two angles meant no shadow
Very nice macro, I have to get me one of those 105 VR's!
